Our Identity

We are the Daughters of St. Mary of Providence (DSMP); sometimes called the Guanellian Sisters after our founder, Saint Louis Guanella, are a Religious Congregation of Pontifical Rite. We live under the auspices of our Holy Father, Pope Francis and follow the Magisterium of the Church. The love and fidelity to the Church is an outstanding quality of every Sister by her total life commitment to God and to the Congregation through religious consecration.

Religious Consecration is the professing of the three Vows of Poverty, Chastity and Obedience in a communion of life with all the Daughters of St. Mary of Providence throughout the world.

Joyfully, we spend our lives to spread the "Culture of Charity" as envisioned by St. Louis Guanella; striving for its perfect fulfillment in the fifteen countries around the world: Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Romania, India, the Philippines, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Paraguay, Mexico, Canada the United States and the Congo.

The Immaculate Conception Province, located in Chicago, Illinois, USA, comprises Canada, Mexico, the Philippines and the United States.

We entrust ourselves to Our Lady of Divine Providence, our model, so that as to be instruments of her tender mercy and the provident love of the Father today."The Whole World is Your Country."

For this reason, we give witness and honor to the value of all human life from conception to natural death. We bring forth in our mission the merciful heart of Christ toward all peoples and remain alert and attentive to the signs of the times as the call of Divine Providence.
